PURIM AT THE SHUL 5783

Dear Community Family,

During this extraordinary month of increased energy, Mazal and Joy, we approach the seminal holiday of Purim.

Purim, which literally means lottery, represents a moment in time in history when every Jewish man, woman, and child in the entire civilized world was threatened with annihilation, sanctioned by the government of the time.

With a remarkable reversal that baffled the imagination, our merciful Father in Heaven again pulled the rug from under the feet of our enemies to ensure not only our continued survival and existence, but our continuity with honor, respect and impact.  Instead of being destroyed, the Jews continued to contribute to the civilization of that period and to the advancement of society in every way.

Today we see a topsy-turvy world where everything, including ethics, morality, decency and manners, is questioned and established on the weak foundations of society’s whims, dictated by entitlement and instant gratification.

We are in a time when not only the physical world is shaking with conflict, wars, civil disturbances, etc. etc. but the basic spiritual, moral structure of society is in shambles.

Purim represents the opportunity for transformation and regaining the right track with momentum and spirit.

We are witnessing that in our community as we continue to grow and flourish with a center-point of holiness and G-dliness.

Let us celebrate with gusto, and the feeling of optimism and positivity as we look forward to utilizing our God-given capacities and strengths to make this world a really happy, good, solid, decent, balanced abode for G-dliness.

We will be celebrating at The Shul, giving charity to those that need support, sharing food baskets with our friends to express unity, kindness, and love, listening to the story of Esther read in the Megillah and celebrating with feasts.

We look forward to celebrating together and welcoming a time of peacefulness and goodness when the world will be unified, and hate and negativities will disappear, and holiness and G-dliness will prevail.

Happy Purim!

G-d bless you all.

With Torah greetings and blessings,

Sholom D. Lipskar
